Banksia Montessori School

My son joined this school in Feb-12 as a 3 year old. I can already see a big improvement in his interests and ability to grasp new concepts. The school practices the Montessori style of learning that I feel is a more scientific approach for kids of his age. As it is an open environment, younger kids learn from their older buddies, which also improve their confidence when moving to a primary school. They would be less likely to face bullying. Also, the Principal and other staff are very efficient. The kids learn to be self-dependent in day to day activities like getting their own glass of water, cleaning dishes after lunch, arranging the toys after playing, etc. I would recommend all parents to give their children this excellent opportunity to kick-start their life in the best possible way.

As a current staff member (I now work in the office) I'm at bit biased, but I write this review as a former parent whose 2 children attended Banksia for 3 years. My daughters achievement report last year speaks for itself and perfectly reflects why we chose Banskia as a preschool for our children: H. has an impressive ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Her positive attitude towards learning is an admirable attribute to the classroom environment. She enjoys offering her views on subjects within the class and always has something valuable to contribute. H. is to be commended for her sound academic performance in mathematics and also composes interesting writing pieces. She draws on her knowledge of sounds when spelling unknown words." - So from our family: 'Thank you Banksia!'"

My son started here at 3YO. Its an amazing school with a great teacher-student ratio. He gets to mix with students older and younger, which has really helps him develop social skills. The teachers are really caring and dedicated to helping the children develop. Highly recommended.

Beautiful school with well kept equipment to complement the amazing education provided in a small community. Love the holistic approach to learning and also nurturing my child's emotional needs.

We have really enjoyed having our kids at Banksia Montessori. Their development has noticeably improved both at school and at home and the focus and attention of the educators is impressive. It is such a beautiful little school with well maintained play areas and equipment, a raft of community based programs and a very inclusive multi-cultural environment. We would recommend this as an major upgrade to pre-school learning and socialisation for 3 to 6 year olds.

Banksia Montessori School are like a home away from home for our little Sienna. They follow all the principles of a traditional standard Montessori School and as a result our child is thriving academically, emotionally and socially. She came to Banksia as a shy, nervous unsure child. The staff are very nurturing and tentative to each individual Childs needs. The school has exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be happier as we know Sienna is ready to attend big school next year. Excellent school, great family community with dedicated and skilled teachers with big hearts. My son loves it here, feels safe and nurtured and stimulated. The change in him in just 3 weeks was amazing with the way he started taking pride in doing things for himself and his deep interest in learning new things. Thanks to the team there, we are ever grateful.

Don’t bother enrolling. I toured the school and advised them of a start date. She advised me if I paid my enrolment and send through the application form’s immediately that I would get an interview and I would be first in line for consideration. Paid the two enrolment fees and filled the application forms as soon as I got home from the tour. I followed them up several times regarding when the interview would be as I heard nothing after that and was told the principal would be in touch. I have emailed again regarding this and again no reply.I wouldn’t waste your money & time enrolling as they are usually already full given how small the school is and they most likely won’t call you anyway.

All three of our children attended Banksia for the 3-year program. We loved the small community feel of the school and found it to be a wonderful foundation prior to going to 'big school'. All our children developed independence, confidence and a love of learning and are doing well in their current school. Thank you Banksia Montessori School for the perfect preparation.

My 2 sons went to this lovely school. Small cozy community with about 35 children/ 30 families - everyone knows each other well like a big family - very welcoming environment. Classroom is very well equipped with new & complete Montessori materials. The Principal & teachers are highly experienced, very dedicated and caring to the children. My older son is now in Y2 and very independent & eager to learn - all important qualities thanks to Banksia. Can't recommend this school highly enough!
